Farrell Bids Farewell To Sarries

Former Saracens Coach Andy Farrell
Saracens have today confirmed on their website that former dual code international Andy Farrell has left his post as backs coach of Saracens rugby club. In a statemtn Saracens chariman Nigel Wray has said:

''We are sorry to see Andy leave, and we wish him well in the future."

The website did go on to express the 'surprise' nature of Farrell's resignation, however, Sarries have acted quickly to replace him with former centre Kevin Sorrell.

The nature of Farrell's departure is indeed surprising. Saracens look ready to move into a new St.Albans stadium and Farrell has been an integral part of the coaching team along with Brendan Venter and Mark McCall who lef the London based side to be the 2011 Aviva Premiership Champion's and in 2012 a Heineken Cup quarter final and Premiership semi final.

What appears to be the motivation one must assume is Stuart Lancaster's new England set up. With a four man coaching team, Lancaster will need to be looking for more coaches for the Autumn internationals and 2013 Six Nations. However, reports have stated Farrell has a clause in his contract preventing him coaching with a 6 month 'cool off' period. It has been suggested it would take a large pay off from any interested party to attain the services of Farrell.

Despite the contract disputes that are sure to come in the coming days and weeks, it is important to remember the success that Farrell brought to Saracens and the potential success he will bring to future employers.
